CINEMA FOR PEACE AND DEMOCRACY

Founded in 2016 in Dakar by a group of African journalists and filmmakers, Cinema for Peace and Democracy (CPD) is an independent organization at the intersection of documentary filmmaking and civic engagement. Its mission is to document struggles for democratic change, denounce impunity, and give voice to marginalized communities.

CPD produces films rooted in a rigorous documentary approach, driven by a committed aesthetic. Its work focuses primarily on African contexts marked by political violence and violations of fundamental freedoms. Through its productions, the organization aims to foster alternative narratives, mobilize international public opinion, and foster dialogue through screenings, debates, festivals, and awareness-raising initiatives.
